Tomorrow (6/18/2017) marks the 6 week period for my manuscript (3rd draft) being in the hands of Beta Readers. It is a bit nerve-wracking opening myself up to judgement and criticism, even if this phase is sharing the book with trusted friends... it is kind of like submitting a resume for a job and then not hearing from that company for a long time. After I get their comments back, it will be on to the next round of editing. Writing the first draft was the easy part. It took a long time because I had to slip it in nights and weekends around a full time, stressful job, plus not letting my interaction with my wife disappear with excessive time in my man-cave writing, but the creativity flowed fairly strongly and smoothly throughout that phase. Editing is tough. Way tougher than writing the first draft. I imagine reading criticism of my writing will be tough too.
